Dear Donald Trump, your presidential ambitions ended this evening.
Whatever hope Donald Trump had to run for president-based almost exclusively on picking the scab off the barely healing wounds on the body politic inflicted by the culture wars-is largely gone.
While Donald Trump has been spending his time descending from limousines long enough to hop in front of the nearest television camera in order to whine about birth certificates, the president has the distinction of capturing the bad guy.
I have really mixed feelings about this whole Osama Bin Laden thing-I cannt look at this whole thing as I would have 10 years ago. I can't simply do a fist pump and hoot about how awesome this is. To the extent that Osama Bin Laden was a violent man who advocated terrorism-I am glad that he's dead. But tell me this-if it took large numbers of people dying, trillions of dollars, if it took the most powerful and wealthy nation on earth 10 years to locate and kill ONE MAN-is this what's supposed to make us feel a sense of justice?
But one thing is clear-President Obama made this happen on his watch. Donald Trump's got nothing. I really believe this changes the dynamic.
