Health Insurance Buying for the Unemployed

I write this hoping that I can get some guidance from the DailyKos community that will help me to chose the best health insurance available. I am approaching 4 months being unemployed and need to purchase some coverage on my own. I thought if this diary gets any attention, it could also help others here who are in the same situation.
